Biography
Dr. Deqiang Ma is a tenure-track Assistant Professor at Fudan University. He received his PhD from The University of Queensland (Australia) in 2022 and completed postdoctoral training at the University of Michigan (USA) from 2022 to 2024. He joined Fudan University in February 2026. His research focuses on spatial ecology and biodiversity conservation. Using geospatial big data and spatial ecological modeling, his work evaluates the impacts of human activities and climate change on biodiversity and explores spatial optimization strategies for biodiversity conservation and ecological restoration. He has published multiple papers as first or corresponding author in leading journals, including Nature Ecology & Evolution, Science Advances, and Journal of Applied Ecology. His research was featured in an editorial in Nature Ecology & Evolution, cited in policy reports by the Asian Development Bank, and widely covered by international media outlets such as The Guardian and Newsweek.
